Local Attractions

You might choose to stay in the area before or after your retreat, or if you come with a companion there will be plenty for him or her to enjoy if they are not participating in the event. Cork, Kilkenny and Waterford are cities that are all within easy driving distance of our centrally located yet beautifully rural and private centre. In addition to these urban centres, there are of course many less noisy, more peaceful options. Here are just a few to give you a flavour of this beautiful part of County Waterford. The Waterford Greenway is growing and growing in popularity with both locals and visitors. The Dungarvan start point is just twenty minutes from our centre and we will be delighted to drop or collect you if you wish to include this beautiful experience in your retreat programme. Patrick is a keen student of kayaking and loves nothing more than to get on the ocean, rivers or lakes. We are spoiled for choice here in West Waterford with Ardmore Bay, Ballyvooney, Helvick Head and so many other magnificent coastal locations to paddle. Then of course there is the mighty Blackwater river practically on our door step. If you are experienced on the water, Patrick will be delighted to buddy with you or advise you where and when to go. Kayaking is not offered as part of the retreat activities but it is an activity that can be enjoyed while on retreat here, and Patrick will happily join you in a private capacity. This is a photo of the two sit on Kayaks at Coolbagh, seats, paddles, wet suits and life jackets are available. Ardmore Adventures (20 minutes away) offer guided kayaking trips and training,
